West Papua Problem Will Only be Solved in Melanesian Way, by Melanesian Leaders

West Papua Liberation Army (WPRA) Secretary-General, towards the end term of his office before the secretariat-general office is being ended by its Commander in Chief, Gen. WPRA Mathias Wenda, made a public statement last night that “West Papua Problem Will Only be Solved in Melanesian Way, by Melanesian leaders“, in reply to written questions sent by PMNews (Free West Papua News at papuapost.com via Email and Mobile Text Message.

PMNews: Hello, this is from PMNews again, we would like to ask some questions in relation to current development of West Papua independence campaign. It was reported recently that the Solomon Islands Prime Minister as the Chair of Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) has toured and met other Melanesian leaders, except the PNG Prime Minister. What do you make out of this development?

WPRA: We thank to God, Almighty, creator of our Melanesian Islands, particularly the home of Melanesians, the Isle of New Guinea, and to our Melnaesian leaders, who are already standing up for their own people and our common identity as Melanesians.

About the current progress of MSG Chair meeting other MSG leaders, we are really grateful that this is happening. About MSG Chair not yet met PNG Premier, please PMNews,do not worry about this. This is exactly we call “The Melaensian Way”. The most obvious feature of the “Melanesian Way” is: UNPREDICTABLE. Please not it, Melanesians are unpredictable, what we do always unpredictable. When Barack Obama, Donal Trump, T. May, Joko Widodo say something, then most of us will be able to predict what they mean and what they imply at the same time. But when Melanesian peoples say something, they can mean something totally different, it is just unpredictable.

PMNews: United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) was promised to be accepted as Full Member of the MSG by early 2017, but this did not happen. Do you think this is also related to “The Melanesian Way”?

WPRA: You are absolutely right. You got it now. That is exactly why I said, we are Melanesians, and we are unpredictable. What we do is the same as the modern world do things. Melanesians are Melanesians. West Papua Issue is now Melanesian Issue, and we are now already dealing with it. Do not do things in Melanesia according to the Western mindset. It will have a counter-productive outcome.

PMNews: Does it mean Melanesian leaders can make promises but then it is OK if they do not deliver?

WPRA: You were already good in previous question, but now you got it wrong in this question. PLEASE: Do not focus on semi-membership and full-membership. That is western mind. Please focus on “membership”. Full stop. ULMWP is ALREADY a member of the MSG, full stop.

Be thankful, work on it, cultivate and nurture communication and collaboration with Melanesian leaders, our own leaders. Do not treat PNG Premier and Solomon Premier as different peoples. They are just one: Melanesian leaders.

West Papua just born into Melanesian family, a new born baby. Do not ask for food yet, milk first. Work first, cultivate first, nurture first, then things will evolve automatically and naturally. We are not talking about other peoples. We are talking about our own Melanesia and Melanesians. Think in Melanesian Way, Act in Melanesian Way.

PMNews: Elaborate more on the “Melaensian Way” that you are talking about.

WPRA: Just one short story. If you want a girl from another clan, what do you normally do? You must behave, you must show yourself capable man, know how to build house, make garden, and be a man, a husband. If your thinking and behavior is like a small kids, no woman will be willing to marry you, no clan will approve you to get their daughter.

You do not need to go around, you do not need to go to their men’s houses and put notice and distribute leaflets asking for support for your marriage with the girl. You do not need to ask other boys to join you in your demonstration. That will make the whole thing counter-productive, right?

What you should do is “behave”, do things that Melanesian peoples do in order to get attention, and in order to get support!

When we Melanesians live long time in the west, then we forget our own Melanesian Way. This is why we say we are Melanesians, but we do in western way. “Our Voice is like that of Jacob’s, but our skin feels like that of Esau’s”. What a game we are into now.

Get out from there. Be Melanesians, do things in Melanesian Way.

Everything is already on the right track. Nothing to worry about. Just TRUST….

  1. Trust in God and His miracles;
  2. Trust in Melanesia and Melanesian leaders’ wisdom
  3. Trust in Yourselves as Melanesians in West Papua.

And then…

  1. As far as possible, avoid to trust opinion from Non-Melanesian(s), because they have their own interests and we do not want them to change our course into their course;
  2. As far as possible, DELETE doubt in yourself, and in your own Melanesian peoples, because that is the deadliest disease that we can have in order to destroy us Melanesians and our future; and
  3. Only then, you can have the capability to absorb and comprehend ideas and suggestions from outside Melanesia, and then you can properly make use of things coming from outside.

PMNews: Your advice is not really easy, because we are in a globalised world, out West Papuan leaders now live in the West and we do not know what things they are getting from there and what things they want to use to Free West Papua.

WPRA: The right Melanesian leaders from West Papua will choose to live in one of Melanesian states, just like what Any Ayamiseba and The Late Dr. OPM John Otto Ondawame did. If they choose to live in the western countries, we will surely know that they dot not FULLY represent West Papuans, but they PARTLY represent non-Melanesians as well.

PMNwes: Any advice for Melanesian youths in West Papua and all over Indonesia?

WPRA: Not now, nothing to say for them right now.

Since 2004, WPRA has already been active in building bases for Free West Papua Campaign across Melanesian states. Since 2006, or ten years ago, we already have moved the Field  of West Papua Political Match from Western New Guinea to Eastern New Guinea. Therefore, the match now is happening in PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Kanaky and Vanuatu, not in West Papua or Indonesia anymore.

There is no comment for spectators. When there is a match, people normally give comments on the match, not on the spectators. Thank you.

Papuans in West Papua Only Have One Killer: The Malay Indos

PMNews asked the West Papua Revolutionary Army on recent killings happening in West Papua, who are the killers? Or Who is causing troubles in West Papua despite tens of visits to West Papua by the colonial president Joko Widodo. Lt. Gen. Amunggut Tabi says,

Papuans in West Papua Only Have One Killer: The Malay Indos. No one should be confused about it. Since its military invasion Indonesia has been here for gold, copper, timber, gas, oil, fish, you name it. And the human beings, native inhabitants, of an inferior and backward Melanesian race are seen as troublesome, as hindrance to the original purpose of invading, occupying and extracting the natural resources.

Amunggut Tabi continues,

Many Indnnesians use this expression, “New Guinea is a big Island, very big fo host all Indonesians, even still have more rooms to host all Malays from Java to Thailand, its natural resources terribly rich, it will take thousands of years to complete extract the natural resources, it is ripe, it is ready, however, it is a pity, it is disturbing, it is discouraging, that this island also has human beings, called Melanesian Papuan.

It is clear, that Melanesians in West Papua are seen as a “pity”, an obstacle, hinderance to the great Pan-Indonesia, Great Malay Republic as inspired by the first Malay-Indos President Sukarno.

Now, what is the solution that normal human being take when you see something or somebody is a “hindrance”? You solve it. You take the hindrance away. In this case, if Papuan as human beings are the problems, then Malay-Indos have to deal with them, and the only way is to kill-them-off.

Amunggut Tabi also stated,

I mean, wiping out Melanesians, not just Papuans, is on the agenda of Pan-Indonesia or Great Indonesia nation-state that was already designed by Sukarno. The mission is not yet complete until the Isle of New Guinea is fully occupied, and exploited, and the Papuans in this Island is completely wiped out.

I can guarantee this because I have read all secret-documents from Indonesian intelligence. Of course, we must purchase the information, but in the future time, they will take over Papua New Guinea, and later on Solomon Islands. It is just a matter of time, the plan is already in place and already in hands.

The most feasible approach to occupying the whole Melanesia starting from Raja Ampat Islands of West Papua westernmost ends is by wiping out the human beings who inhabit the Island. There is no other way ahead. They will never occupy already independent Papua New Guinea and other Melanesian nation-states just by killing the inhabitants but at least they already starting from West Papua. Once they wipe out and occupy West Papua, they will occupy Papua New Guinea in social, culture, technology, infrastructure, military, police.

Amunggut Tabi furthermore warned,

Of all human race in the world, Malay-Indos as Malay race is the most corrupt in their moral standard. They will always use women as the front-page, their window, their entry-point, their leading story. The most obvious example is the last UNGA interventions made by seven South Pacific countries was responded by Indonesia by presented what they called, “beautiful young Indonesian diplomat” and it then because spiral all over Indonesia. They do not care human beings are killed, and threatened to be wiped out from their own inherited land. Their focus was on that “one lady” that they regarded beautiful. What is the meaning of beauty when she tells lies in public speech? Beauty must rests in the heart, not in the skin.

Amunggut Tabi also mentioned the names, as examples, of Melanesian leaders who have been morally and politically defeated by Indonesia after giving them Indonesian ladies as their wives, or as their maids. Women is always in their forehead when they talk about dealing with other people, to defeat them:

They have, and they will offer ladies to many Melanesian politicians and key figures, and they will use all their powers to control Melanesian politics though back-doors, not front-doors. They have done so successfully with Papua New Guinea key figures. They will soon do it all over Melanesia. They will occupy Melanesia though back-doors. They are occupying West Papua though front-door. Melanesian leaders must read this reality rationally, and respond to it rationally, strategically, and wisely.

With all these background information, Amunggut Tabi said that Malay-Indos are the ones who want to see West Papua unstable, to see West Papuans wiped out from their homeland, to exploit and extract as many natural resources as possible in short time as possible.

He continues,

When you see any Melanesians die, mysteriously, openly, caused by illness or a sudden death, in remote villages or in crowded city, anywhere in Indonesia, hit by car or shot randomly, Melanesians must keep in mind, that surely, Malay-Indos are on their way wiping out Melanesian race. They are our killers. Any aid and development funds offer from Indonesia should be rejected, because their aid and money are full of Papuans’ blod.

Gen. Wenda: West Papua is Ready to Function as a Postmodern Nation-State

Following the signing of West Papua Revolution Constitution by the West Papua National Parliament in September 2016, Gen. TRWP Mathias Wenda urges United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) to follow it up according to the order of the constitution that says,

“ULMWP shall  form a Transitional Government or Revolutionary Government or Provisional Government of West Papua within 90 days after the constitution takes into force”.

It is important for all Melanesian leaders and tribal elders to understand, that I myself as an elder, would like to invite all Melanesian elders to pray for us in West Papua so that ULMWP has the ability and bravery to declare a “West Papua Provisional Government” not long from now. This is important in order for us Melanesian leaders and for the ULMWP to have a stronger position within international law in our South Pacific Region.

By declaring our West Papua Revolutionary Constitution (WPRC) on 13 September 2016, on the day we celebrated the 9th anniversary of UN Declarations on Indigenous Populations that was passed by the UNGA on the 61-session dated 13 September 2007. The UN Declaration on Indigenous Populations, particularly on Article 3.  clearly stipulates

Indigenous peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they  freely  determine  their  political  status  and  freely  pursue  their  economic,  social  and cultural development.

All UN Documents and primarily UN Charter clearly guarantees the rights of all human society in the world, individuals and groups to determine their/our future. And what we Melanesians are doing now in West Papua is just in accordance to these principles, in order to implement the basic values of the United Nations and to appreciate our human civilization that have rejected any forms of slavery and colonization with any reason.

West Papuans are fighting against Indonesian colonialism not because we hate the Malay – Indos.

What we are doing is to respect the values and principles of the UN and to end manipulation and lies that have been colonizing and suppressing, terrorizing and obliterating Melanesian peoples all the way from Fiji to Sorong.

West Papua was invaded militarily beginning from the December 19th, 1961’s Triple Command of Indonesian President. The Western World was not interested in taking risk of Communism expanding to South Pacific region after failure to defeat communist influence in South East Asia, particularly Vietnam and Indonesia.

We human beings in this planet have said “Good Bye” to Communism. The threat from Russia is no longer to do with communism anymore. The eastern block is now already part of our human history. And yet, the impacts of the Cold War Era is still disturbing and deadly to Melanesians in West Papua, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and Kanaky. Papua New Guinea and Fiji have been reluctant lately, to acknowledge us West Papuans as one race, wan solwara, wan graun and wantok, not based on their choice, but they are presented day and night, back and forth, by forces and threats from outside Melanesia, pressuring them to accept whatever happened in the past and its consequences, however insulting and deadly it is to our race as human beings.

Only until June 26, 2015 that we all Melanesians have declared our dignity and integrity as human race on this planet, on the South Pacific Region, that Melanesians are all  united as one race and one family under our house called MSG. We indeed acknowledged the reality of God’s creation that we are created as Melanesians, not as Indonesians. What we are doing is God’s will, based on the laws and principles of God from creation. West Papuans are not Indonesians, we are Melanesians, and this is according to what God has created. Let us agree with God and work towards social-engineering projects being actively and massively, with a lot of resources being executed in West Papua since 1961.

Right now, since 13 September 2016, West Papuans now already have a Constitution that will guide us towards a free and independent West Papua. We invite all Melanesian leaders to understand and cooperate, in order to promote a United Melanesia that is based upon the Values and Norms, Customs and Traditions of Melanesian peoples that we inherited from our ancestors.

This very Provisional Constitution of West Papua clearly states that the citizens of West Papua Nation-State are (1) spiritual beings, (2) plants, (3) animals, (4) matter and human beings who live and share the Western half of the Isle of New Guinea. This constitution is based upon Melanesian values and philosophy, that acknowledges the existence and rights of all communities of beings, including human beings, regard all communities of beings as part of our life, see the forests as our homes, see the animals as our fellow beings, see the spirits of the living and of our ancestors nurtures our lives, honour and worship God in His Spirit, and respect and protect the rights of matters like rivers, gold, timber, soil as fellow beings that should be respected and treated accordingly.

This very Provisional Constitution of West Papua also states that the National or Official Language of West Papua nation-state is Tok-Pisin and the National Currency is Kina West Papua.

We are standing based on our Melanesian norms, values and philosophy, and following our Melanesian brothers and sisters today who already have their independent nation-states. We are going to have our National Government soon, because we already have our National Parliament and Our National Law in place.

As the Commander in Chief of West Papua Revolutionary Army (WPRA) and as the Elder of my own Lani Triba, I would like to invited the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Rt. Hon.  Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Fiji, Rt. Hon. Leader of FLNKS, and Leaders of ULMWP that

  1. We fully trust and rely on you all, and look forward to what the future brings from your kind wisdom and leadership in liberating our occupied land by Melayo – Indonesians;
  2. We look forward to sit and stand-up, talk and work together hand-in-hand to fully liberate West Papua from colonialism.
  3. West Papua is the westernmost part of Melanesia, and without West Papua, our own entity as a human race is not complete and we are socially and culturally paralyzed. West Papua independence is per-requisite towards a stable, peaceful, prosperous and powerful Melanesia. Those who against West Papua independence are the ones  who want to colonize, manipulate and exploit our Melanesian race and our resources, of course for their own sake not for us Melanesians.

West Papua is our hope for our future. We are looking forward to establish a post-modern nation-state that is based fully on our Melanesian wisdom, based on our Melanesian norms and values, and our system of governance.

We are ready to step into running West Papua Government that will coordinate and organise our movement towards full independence and sovereignty.

Please receive our warmest greetings and salute,  from the jungles o New Guinea.

Welcome West Papua Transitional Constitution Called “Undang-Undang Revolusi West Papua”

Papua Merdeka News (PMNews) welcomes the legal instrument for West Papua independence movement called “Undang-Undang Revolusi West Papua – UURWP” (or West Papua Revolution/ Transitional Constitution) that helps organise and establish legal basis for the struggle for Independence of West Papua as a sovereign nation-state in near future.

After being proposed by various organisations fighting for West Papua independence, including proposal from the West Papua Revolutionary Army (WPRA) as mentioned previously, the West Papua National Parliament (Nieuw Guinea Raad) Chairperson, Buchtar Tabuni has released a what the PNWP Calls “Undang-Undang Revolusi West Papua” (UURWP) that has taken into force since the day it is passed by the parliament.

Since 13 September 2016 the Revolutionary Constitution by WPRA has taken into force, and since 19 September 2016 the same constitution is legally endorsed by West Papua National Parliament and has taken into force on the same day of its signing by the Parliament Chairperson

There is only one task as the order of the Constitution to be carried out right now, according to the PNWP office, i.e., the formation of West Papua Provisional Government or West Papua Transitional Government based on the Constitution that has been issued by the parliament.

According to the constitution, three months (30) days have been given by the constitution (1) for West Papua National Parliament to Legally Sign the Constitution and (2) for the Parliament to order the ULMWP (United Liberation Movement for West Papua) as the political/executive body to form a West Papua Transitional Government. Only within days, PNWP has signed the Constitution, which means it remains one more mandate to be fulfilled by the ULMWP, i.e., to form the provisional government.

According to the Secretariat-General of West Papua Revolutionary Army (WPRA), and the office of West Papua National Parliament,

It is important to notice that the Constitution Officially Declares “Tok Pisin” as the Official Language of West Papua Revolution.

From the Collective Editorial Board of West Papua Online News Group,

We Welcome the West Papua Revolution Constitution,

the legal basis that will lead the United Liberation Movement for West Papua to form a Transitional Government, a constitution that will guard the West Papua Independence Movement, until Indonesia colonial power is out from Melanesian soil.

West Papua Today Has a Revolutionary Constitution to Guard Independence Struggle

The West Papua Revolutionary Army, headquartered in Sandaun Provinsi, Papua New Guinea has releaed a “Constitution for West Papua Struggle” that it calles “UNdang-Undang Revolusi West Papua” (West Papua Revolution Constitution), signed by WPRA Commander in CHief, Gen. TRWP Mathias Wenda on 7 September 2013, and has taken into force on 13 September 2016.

According to media release in Malay-Indo version received by Papua Merdeka News (PNews) stated that this consitution is aimed at assisting the independence struggle for West Papua.

General Wenda clearly stated as follows

Yes, this constitution is not a West Papua Constitution as an independent State, but this is a Constitution for Revolution, in order that this West Papua Soil has its own laws that can counter the colonial laws being imposed on Papuan people and Papua Soil. We have own own laws that Indonesia must understand and finally obey. We have our laws that all independent fighters and organisations must learn and obey. We are not NGOs that are fighting against a colonial state with its laws. We are a sovereign nation-state that is waiting to be acknowledged by the International community, and law and order is the language of modern nation-states. We are now speaking in modern political language, to declare that West Papua now has a Law that governs our independence movement.

Furthermore Lt. Gen. Amunggut Tabi at the WPRA Secretariat-General Office stated that this constitution is presented to Papua National Parliament (PNWP) as the legislativ body in our struggle and the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) as the executive body of our independence movement, to consider and to issue sign to begin a new era of our independence movement.

Gen. Tabi stated,

We are now stepping into the song and melody of Melanesian and South Pacific countries, we are invited to play the same tune. We need to appear in our regional political arena as a Nation-State and as a Government in waiting. We have our people, we have our territorial boundaries, we have recognition from South Pacific countries, and therefore, we must step forward to respon to latest developments in the region by setting up a Nation-State and a National Government-in-Waiting (Transitional Government). This Revolutionary Constitution of Wset Papua a law for West Papua Transitional Government which should be organized soon by the ULMWP. And to get there, we need West Papua Parliament (PNWP) to approve and declare this constitution as the Constitution of West Papua Transitional Government.

Gen. Tabi elaborated further that West Papua should now organise herself into a “modern nation-state”. Foreign countries, with their politicians and diplomats, their leaders are playing a “wait and see” game. They agree West Papua should become a free and independent nation-state, but they are curious whether or not this 21-st nation-state is just the same as other Melanesian nation-sates? They are curious about what this new nation-state will bring to the regional stability and more importantly to climate change and global warming.

Gen. Tabi says

Yes, West Papua have the answer to regional needs today. West Papua adds values to our global needs in relation to global warming and climate change. We have the answer to how to make our South Pacific Region peaceful and harmonious, and we are the key towards a sustainable and harmonious New Guinea Island. We come with a full guarantee that New Guinea Island will be fully and legally protected as a Conservation Area, will fully implement the Kyoto-Protocols and other Internationally recognized Climate-Related agreements and conventions.

This is the key and critical time for life and living beings on this planet, and New Guinea Island is the most important contributor to the live on this planet Earth. West Papua is coming into this global political arena with a clear policy on the future of the Isle of New Guinea . This island is the  host of biggest bio-diversity on Earth and house to the second largest rain forests on Earth, with its famous tropical glaciers.

Gen. Wenda stated that West Papua is a nation-state with full understanding, awareness and concentration on climatic condition, and does not only consider economic and political benefits of West Papua independence as we are in a new era of politics and global policy.

West Papua Issue is NOT Just About Being “Pity” with Melanesians in West Papua

West Papua Issues is NOT Only about Melanesian brothers and sisters across the South Pacific to feel sorry and pity about the human suffering occurring in the Western half of New Guinea Island since the invasion and occupation of the territory by Indonesian nation-state since 1961. General Mathias Wenda the Commander in Chief of the West Papua Revolutionary Army (WPRA) says,

West Papua issue is not just regarding those of us Melanesians who were born and grown up in West Papua as being suffering from Indonesian invasion and occupation. It is more than that. It is to do with our common goal, shared fate, shared future, the common destiny of “Melanesia” as a human society in the South Pacific Region. The modernisation project has brought about catastrophic consequences on us in our region, but it does not mean we blame anybody or anything. It means, we as human beings, as human society, should stand up, think about, discusses, speak up, and act upon steps towards saving our own future.

General Wenda continues,

We are not talking about economic development, regional security and stability, nor pleasing Indonesia and the Western interests in the Pacific Rim. We are not talking about what is prosperity and how to achieve it. We are talking about the very survival or our Melaneisan race in our region. We are talking about the future of own children and grand-children. We are talking about hundreds of years to come. Yes, we hsave to be ready to accept that some of the islands in our region will sink. Of course, global warming is a reality that we must not regret but should anticipate from now on. Yes, this is why the Suva Declaration on Climate Change has the rightful Melanesian spirit, as it is directly to do with our own future. When we do sit down ourselves as Melanesians, without western and Asian interests and influences, then we can see we have our wisdom aired and decisions made addressing the “real needs” and “strategic issues” of Melanesian peoples and the South Pacific Region.

General Wenda also emphasizes that besides MSG as the regional body under the Pacific Island Forum (PIF), involving parties outside Melanesians, Micronesians and Polynesians, our Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) is established on our own interest, to deal with our own issues.  PIDF is the native “Melanesian organisation”, that we needs to raise and nurture for our own sake.

Unity among Melanesians as a family is the key towards “Good News” for our future generations. We should not be fooled by security issues, regional peace issues, development issues that are being aired by Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. We need to think first of all about “our own existence” in the coming 100 – 200 years in our small islands before we talk about wealth and prosperity, peace and justice, development and modernisation.

General Wenda maintains that New Guinea Island is the homeland of all Melanesians,

This Island is our Island, out future, out home, our fate is based on this Island. We should not allow foreigners occupy and exploit, take over and wipe our our Melanesian race. If this happens, then where will al Melanesians go? Australia? Sorry but our Aboriginal brothers and sisters have been occupied. They have no power to make decisions when anything happens to our small islands.

Our only hope is the Isle of New Guinea. Anytime, in the future, when anything happens in our small islands, every Melanesian man and woman knows that each of us has our big home-land, that is, the Isle of New Guinea. It is time now, to wisely and strategically prepare for our future generations, by saving West Papua for our own sake. Before we regret, before our children regret, before our grand-children put curse upon us for not acting wisely now, let us be wise, let us make up our minds in the spirit of Melanesia wisdom, in Melanesia way, based on Melanesia beliefs and philosophy.

Yes, we Melanesians in West Papua are being continuously killed, being systematically, structurally, and extensively being wiped out under the Indonesian project called “Pan-Pacific Rim of Great Indonesia” designed by Soekarno and Ali Murtopo in 1960s. Papua New Guinea is diplomaticall, not politically, fully under Indonesian control right now, by employing Indonesian strategy called “fear-and-terror” and conquer. In not long time to come, Papua New Guinea will be occupied diplomatically by Indonesia.

That is why, we are now, I am now, General Mathias Wenda, asking not for all Melanesian leaders not to feel pity about us Melanesians in West Papua. Let us take what is happening in West Papua as a “waking-up alarm” for all Melanesian leaders, to strategically think, tactically plan, and wisely act to save our Melanesian fate, politically, socially, culturally, and more importantly environmentally.

Pacific appeal to the world’s conscience: West Papua Supports Fiji PM’s Speech at PIDF Summit

Pacific appeal to the world’s conscience is the theme that all Melanesian leaders should agree and promote. From West Papua, sharing with Papua New Guinea as the Second Largest Island on Earth, supports the efforts on limiting (global) temperature rise to 1.5 Degrees Centigrade as stated in ‘Suva Declaration on Climate Change’ which became a Pacific appeal to the world’s conscience.

From the Office of Gen. TRWP Mathias Wenda, as the Commander in Chief of the West Papua Revolutionary Army (WPRA), the Secretary-General Lt. Gen. Amunggut Tabi says,

West Papua issue is not just about human rights and security, regional stability and peace, it is more about out Melanesian future, the future of the South Pacific. We need to question ‘Where will we go, what are we Melanesians going to do when the sea level arises, when Western half of our Melaneisan-Island (New Guinea) is already occupied and taken over by Malayo-Indonesia?‘ and we need to be clever, speak for our own future generations. We have our independent nation-states, but our small-island states are under threat of global warming. We need to secure the Isle of New Guinea as our Island for our future generations.

Gen. Tabi also reiterates Gen. Wenda’s message that nobody from out there will become our day-time or night-time or morning-time saviors.  We must stand-up for ourselves and for our future generations, and we must stand up together, united as One Melanesian Family, under the umbrella of the ‘Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF)’. Gen. Tabi continues,

We cannot wait, and if we do, there will never be anybody from heavens or earth come to Melanesia to speak on our behalf and on behalf of our future generations. It is our own, primary duty as the parents to begin thinking and acting upon the call for world conscience.

This is why, the Draft Constitution of the Republic of West Papua says the primary goal of West Papua independence is not economic, social nor political one, but it is environmental, holistic one for the sake of Papuans and Melanesians as human society with all other beings that share our islands, waters and skies.

The two WPRA generals also calls on all Melanesian leaders to think more based on Melanesian Wisdom, Melanesian Philosophy and Melanesian Way of Dealing with life issues. They said,

We are rigt now dragged into thinking, talking and acting more for the sake of economic goals. We are dragged into the global modernisation project that sacrifices  our own way of living, way of thinking and way of doing things for our own survival and progress.

With the statement of the Fiji Prime Minister, Gen. Tabi expresses his gratitude, on behalf of West Papuan peoples and all communities of beings in the Isle of New Guinea, that this Melanesian wisdom should be fully supported by all Melanesian leaders, be guarded and promoted, not only for our Melanesia future, but also for the sake of life on this planet. Tabi says, Fiji Prime Minister already said we should,

ungkap Pudjo.

kata Pudjo. (Loy/don/l03)
